Due to work by the city inside the building we will be opening at 1230pm on our Resident's Free Tuesday on May 14th.

Happy New Years

Starting off the exhibit is the first holiday of the year...New Years!   Our collection holds some very unique images from January 1st throughout the decades.

On January 1st, 1918, members of the Navy serving in San Diego defeated those serving in the Army, 24-13, in front of an estimated crowd of 15,000.

This image from the All Weather Flying Division from Clinton County Air Base, displays a large radar array.

War does not take holidays off, as this image shows.  On New Year's day, 1945 a B-17 crashed and blew up, destroying or damaging six Mustangs of the 355th Fighter Group.

This image entitled "New Year's Frolic" is from the Gordon Permann collection, and shows the diversity of the images in our collection.

This image is from the Constantine Karaberis Special Collection showing a New Year's party in Japan.  Karaberis was an Admiral in the U.S. Navy who spent much time in Japan.
