Park Information

Balboa Park is the largest urban cultural park in the United States. The Air & Space Museum shares the park with 14 other museums, many highly regarded performing arts venues, gardens and the world-famous San Diego Zoo. Directions to the San Diego Air & Space Museum

Traveling South on Interstate 5 Take 10th Ave. exit near downtown. Turn left on A street at the first light. While turning get into one of the 2 right lanes, cross 11th Ave., then turn left on Park Blvd. Go through two lights and then make a left turn at President’s Way. Follow President’s Way until it ends at a stop sign. Go through the stop sign and turn left and look for two big planes at the end of the Cul De Sac.

Traveling North on Interstate 5 Take the Pershing Drive/B Street exit and stay to the left. Turn left on B Street, then right at the second light on Park Blvd. Go through two lights and then make a left turn at President’s Way. Follow President’s Way until it ends at a stop sign. Go through the stop sign and turn left and look for two big planes at the end of the Cul De Sac.

From Interstate 8 From Interstate 8 take Highway 163 south in Mission Valley. Take the Interstate 5 south/Park Blvd. interchange. Stay in the right lane and take the Park Blvd. exit. Turn left on Park Blvd. Turn Left at first light for President’s Way. Follow President’s Way until it ends at a stop sign. Go through the stop sign and turn left and look for two big planes at the end of the Cul De Sac.

From Interstate 805 From Interstate 805 take Interstate 8 west to Highway 163. Take highway 163 south. Take the Interstate 5 South/Park Blvd. interchange. Stay in the right lane and take the Park Blvd. exit. Turn left on Park Blvd. Turn Left at first light for President’s Way. Follow President’s Way until it ends at a stop sign. Go through the stop sign and turn left and look for two big planes at the end of the Cul De Sac.

From Highway 163 South From the 163 South, take the Interstate 5 South/Park Blvd. interchange. Stay in the right lane and take the Park Blvd. exit. Turn left on Park Blvd. Turn Left at first light for President’s Way. Follow President’s Way until it ends at a stop sign. Go through the stop sign and turn left and look for two big planes at the end of the Cul De Sac.

From the 94 West Take the 94-West into downtown. Turn right on 16th. Left on B St. Right on Park Blvd. Turn right onto Park Blvd. Go through two lights and then make a left turn at President’s Way. Follow President’s Way until it ends at a stop sign. Go through the stop sign and turn left and look for two big planes at the end of the Cul De Sac.

Or take the 94-West into downtown. Turn right onto 14th Street. Turn left onto Broadway. Turn right onto Park Blvd. Go through two lights and then make a left turn at President’s Way. Follow President’s Way until it ends at a stop sign. Go through the stop sign and turn left and look for two big planes at the end of the Cul De Sac.

From San Diego Airport Take Harbor Drive downtown to Grape Street and turn left. Take Interstate 5 South to 10th Ave. exit. While turning, get into one of the two right lanes, and cross 11th Ave. Turn left onto A St., then left on Park Blvd. Go through two lights and then make a left turn at President’s Way. Follow President’s Way until it ends at a stop sign. Go through the stop sign and turn left and look for two big planes at the end of the Cul De Sac.

Parking

All parking is free in Balboa Park. The San Diego Air & Space Museum lot is located in front of the building, just steps from the entrance, accessible at President’s Way off of Park Boulevard. Additional lots are located throughout Balboa Park, including behind the Air & Space Museum. View a map of Balboa Park.

Public Transportation

Take the MTS Bus 7 or Rapid 215 to the San Diego Air & Space Museum! We recommend that you plan your trip so you arrive at the stop nearest the Park about 15 to 20 minutes before your visit starts to allow plenty of time to walk to the San Diego Air & Space Museum. Metropolitan Transit System bus Route 7 and Rapid 215 serve stops along Park Boulevard within a short walk of the Air & Space Museum.

MTS Routes 3 and 120 provide service along 4th and 5th Avenues on the Park’s west side. If taking one of those routes, get off at the stop closest to Laurel Street and walk east on Laurel Street, past 6th Avenue, over the historic Cabrillo Bridge. Turn right at the Plaza de Panama and continue to west; the Air & Space Museum will be in front of you at the end of the Cul De Sac; look for two big planes.

MTS routes to Balboa Park connect with MTS Trolley Lines and many other MTS Bus and Rapid Routes. In downtown San Diego, Rapid 215 is an easy connection from Amtrak and COASTER trains at the Santa Fe Depot and the Cruise Ship Terminal.
