Launch your child's birthday at the San Diego Air & Space Museum’s Gillespie Field Annex! Parties are designed for children ages 3-12.

Birthday Package Includes:
The Museum offers two party areas at its Gillespie location for a maximum of 2.5 hours. The two areas include a private classroom with a kitchenette and an A/V system or an outdoor space on the taxiway next to the hangars. All tables and chairs will be provided. Prices vary depending on your chosen event space and include admission costs for up to 30 people (10 adults and 20 children). There is an additional fee for parties of over 30 people: $3 per child or $7 per adult (discounted from $5 per child and $10 per adult) for up to 10 additional attendees. Parties with more than 50 people will need prior approval and will require additional fees to accommodate a larger event. 

The Birthday Party Package includes a gift for the birthday child (valued at $20). An additional fee will be charged for more than one gift.

The parent will be responsible for their paper goods and any food, drinks, and cake.

Additional information:

• You will have access to the space 15 minutes before the party to set up.
• You are free to bring in your food or have food delivered (in designated areas only).

Restrictions

• Balloons (including Helium)/ decorations that attach to walls/ or piñatas.
• Alcoholic beverages/ Smoking/Vape pens.
• Any flames other than birthday candles.

Adult Expectations

• Be present with the children and supervise them during party activities, tours, and throughout the experience.
• Be respectful to other guests.
• Keep food and drink in the party area. 

Cancellation Policy

• Cancel 1 week or more in advance 90% refund.
• Cancelled less than a week: $0 refund.

Added Option: 

Activity with Facilitator ($100, Plus Additional Fees for Parties Over Cap Limits)

We offer an option to add an activity led by a museum facilitator. Each activity takes about 1 hour. There are several activities to choose from based on age. There is a cap on the number of children a facilitator can instruct. If the count goes over the cap limit, another facilitator will be required at an additional cost.

Below are size restrictions based on age.

• 15 children max for ages 3 to 4
• 20 children max for ages 5 to 9
• 25 children max for ages 10 to 11

Pricing & Capacity:
The Museum has two locations to choose from for a birthday event: a classroom with a kitchenette and A/V setup and outdoor space on the taxiway outside of the Museum hangars. The outdoor space will be delineated from other museum guests and will include table and chair setup.

Party packages allow up to 30 guests, including free admission for 10 adults and 20 children. Up to 10 additional guests are allowed for an additional fee (max of 40 guests). Please note that there is a cap on the number of children based on age for add-on activities with a museum facilitator.15 children 3-4 years, 20 children 5-9 years, and 25 children 10-11 years old. Larger parties will require approval and an additional facilitator, and a fee will be applied for staffing.

Birthday parties will need to be booked at least 2 weeks in advance. 

Payment must be received within 72 hours of invoice or your reservation will be cancelled.
