Food Service Lead (Full-Time or Part-Time)

Under the direction and supervision of the Guest Experience Manager, the Flight Path Grill (“FPG”) Lead leads the Museum’s food service operations. The FPG Lead works on a consistent daytime schedule to open the FPG to Museum guests every Saturday and Sunday at a minimum and keep cold items for sale in the Museum Store prepped and stocked.

Part-Time Museum Bus Driver

The Bus Driver will drive the STEM Educator in the Museum’s mobile classroom to various locations in San Diego County. The ideal candidate would also assist the Educator at each site.

Summer Camp Assistant

The Camp Assistant will help with educational camp programs and activities for the Museum’s summer programs. Camps run June 19-August 11, 2023 and provide student-driven, hands-on learning experiences, with a particular focus on engineering challenges, problem solving, and highlighting diverse STEM role models. Requirements of this temporary, grant-funded position include tuberculosis (TB) clearance, background check/security clearance, and COVID-19 vaccination.

Full-Time Facilities-Maintenance Technician

Facilities Technicians provide maintenance and custodial services to the Museum as assigned by the Facilities Director. In addition to typical Facilities work, Facilities Technicians work in support of the Education, Special Events, and Curatorial departments on projects ranging from providing one of San Diego’s most iconic event venues, to changing exhibits of historically important aircraft and aviation- related objects. The Level 3 technician will bring intermediate or higher level skills in one or more building trades, the ability to troubleshoot and fix technical equipment, and enthusiasm to take advantage of the unique Museum environment to expand their working knowledge. This position may offer opportunities to learn additional skills and earn or maintain equipment operating licenses. The Museum is a safety-first workplace. This is a full-time, hourly (non-exempt), daytime position.

STEM Education Assistant

The STEM Education Assistant/Bus Driver drives the Museum’s mobile classroom to various locations in San Diego County and assists the Museum instructor at each site. This position is part-time but may lead to a full-time position as grant funding allows. The Museum will pay for required commercial driver training for the right candidate without bus driver certifications but willing to drive.

Guest Experience Representative

Guest Experience Representatives are responsible for providing excellent customer service to museum visitors by answering questions, selling museum admission tickets, Balboa Park Explorer Passes, museum memberships, operating flight simulators, staffing retail store, café, 3D/4D theater, and interpreting exhibits. Duties specific to this position include POS system and credit card terminal operation and daily register accounting and balancing.
