POSITION: Guest Experience Representative

CLASSIFICATION: Part-time, Hourly, Non-exempt

The San Diego Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park seeks a part-time Guest Experience Rep to join our outstanding team. SUMMARY

Guest Experience Representatives are responsible for providing excellent customer service to museum visitors by answering questions, selling museum admission tickets, Balboa Park Explorer Passes, museum memberships, operating flight simulators, staffing retail store, café, 3D/4D theater, and interpreting exhibits. Duties specific to this position include POS system and credit card terminal operation and daily register accounting and balancing.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fulfill a variety of customer service functions to provide an outstanding experience for museum visitors.
  • Provide accurate information regarding the museum, Balboa Park, admissions, memberships, etc.
  • Open admissions desk and operate POS system correctly recording all admissions transactions.
  • Close the admissions desk, balancing the cash register and credit card machine transactions for the Accounting Department.
  • Staff and operate flight simulator rides.
  • Staff retail store.
  • Operate 3D/4D Theater.
  • Provide exhibit information and interpretation for visitors.
  • Input sales transactions for other museum departments.
  • Provide general information to Balboa Park visitors.
  • Participate in other activities in support of the museum.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Friendly, outgoing personality a must.
  • Sales and POS system experience desirable. 
  • Food service experience a plus with ability to obtain food handler card.
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work weekends.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish desirable.

DESIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Previous customer service in a high volume environment desirable.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work may be performed in an office environment, museum environment, with occasional work outdoors. The museum is a non-smoking, drug-free workplace.  The position requires frequent repetitive movements, standing and sitting for long periods of time. Pre-hire drug screening and criminal background check required.

COMPENSATION
Starting at $15 per hour.
