In addition to the archival collections, the Museum has many artifacts in the Curatorial collection that show the history of Women in Aviation. Some of them are highlighted below. Because the holdings are so extensive, not all of these can be on display on the Museum floor at one time.
A WASP flight cap that was owned by Kay Menges.
WASP pilot's wings, worn by Jackie Cochran.
A painting of the First Women's Air Derby by Douglas Ettridge.
USN Women's Dress Blue Uniform, worn by Pilot Julia Blair.
A selection of trophies won by Jackie Cochran.
This is just a sample of the 100s of objects relating to women's aviation that are in our Curatorial collection. Recently, we received an IMLS grant to re-catalog and re-photograph our historical objects and place them online to be enjoyed by the public. You can read about that grant here.
