This wedding dress might look normal, but it was actually made out of the parachute that saved the groom's life during the Second World War. You can read the who story about this unique dress here.
Our collection has several robes of this type that are usually worn by Professors at graduation ceremonies. This particular robe was worn by one of the most famous women pilots in history: Jackie Cochran. She was awarded several honorary degrees, including those from Northeastern and Notre Dame.
Sure, Santa flies, but not an airplane, so why is there a Santa costume at our Museum? The reason is that this revealing set was worn by PSA Flight Attendants, and we house the Pacific Southwest Airlines collection. Known for their outgoing personalities and revealing uniforms, the flight attendants wore these uniforms at charity events they volunteered at.
Are these the masks worn by a villian in a horror movie? No, they are simply masks worn by pilots to battle the cold while they are flying in an open cockpit aircraft. Still spooky!
