While a Lt. Commander Eddie R. Sanders was the first Navy pilot to conduct extensive flight tests of a Japanese Mitsubishi A6M2 fighter plane, known to Allies as a "Zero," doing so first on September 2, 1942.
Edward Dwight Sly was a distinguished aeronautical engineer with Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical. The collection contains items reflecting the career and interests of Edward D. Sly, including photographs, scrapbooks, and media articles.
Edward Henry Heinemann worked at Northrop and General Dynamics, but is best known for his work at Douglas, and was responsible either totally or in part for the design and development of more than 20 outstanding military aircraft.
The collection covers aviation history dating back to the first flights and includes extensive background and research material.
Edward Mele served in the 680th Bomb Group during the Second World War. This collection contains documents relevant to his time in the service.
