The San Diego Air & Space Museum is hosting a Kit, Model & Aviation Collectible Swap Meet on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at its Annex at Gillespie Field in El Cajon.
The Fokker Dr. I triplane is one of the most famous aircraft in aviation history. It indelible association with the “Red Baron,” Manfred von Richthofen, the fact that is was flown by practically all of Germany’s top aces and leading squadrons during the period of 1917 to 1918, plus its unique three wing configuration – all contribute to its fame.
The Museum’s object collection contains hundreds of medals, and prominent among these is a large selection of Purple Hearts. They are simple medals, but behind each of them is a story of heroism and sacrifice.
