Have you spotted our Mission Control mobile classroom cruising through San Diego County? This bright, engaging STEM bus brings hands-on learning directly to students—especially those in Title I schools, rural communities, and neighborhoods that may not have the resources to visit the museum. From rockets to robots, Mission Control ensures that every child can access high-quality STEM experiences, no matter where they live.

For many students, visiting the Museum isn’t possible due to cost, distance, or transportation barriers —so we bring the field trip to them. Mission Control fosters a love of STEM from an early age and continues to grow that knowledge as students progress through school. The bus supports after-school programs, our Fling It to Wing It aircraft design competition, and Storytime Engineers, which brings early-learning story times to preschools and libraries for children ages 2–5.

Mission Control also serves students with special needs who may not have the opportunity to leave their school environment, providing accessible, sensory-friendly learning that meets them where they are. Beyond schools, the mobile classroom attends community events across the region, including STEM festivals, parades, and family STEM nights—bringing hands-on exploration out of the classroom and into the wider community, where families can learn and discover together.
