The Wright Brothers first flight.
The Wright Brothers made the first controlled, sustained flight of an engine-powered, heavier-than-air aircraft on December 17, 1903. As such, they are widely credited as being the first humans to build and fly a successful airplane. Although their famous flight took place over 120 years ago, their legacy is widely felt at our Museum. The Wright Brothers were inducted into the prestigious International Air & Space Hall of Fame at the San Diego Air & Space Museum in 1965.
A new online exhibit explores some of the aircraft, objects and archival material related to the Wright Brothers housed at the San Diego Air & Space Museum.
