Non-Aviators: Movie Stars

Many of the non aviation related people in our collection are stars from the big screen.  Take a look below at some of the most well known actors of the past 100 years.

In this photo of T.C. Ryans first flight of his San Diego-Los Angeles Airline, we see famous movie director Robert Vignola and actress Vera Reynolds made the trip!

We house a collection of Paul Mantz images, who was associated with Hollywood.  So it is not surprising that his images contain many famous actors, such as the Little Tramp, Charlie Chaplin.

Douglas Fairbanks (right...of "Zorro" fame) poses with Frank Seifert, who was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for the first air to air refueling.

Ray Milland, star of "The Lost Weekend" poses with famous aviator Roscoe Turner.

Jimmy Doolittle poses with Clark Gable, one of the most famous actors on the last century. On the right is Cliff Henderson.

We have an autographed image from the Yankee Doodle Dandy, James Cagney!

Robert Cummings, a movie and television star who would eventually host his own talk show, poses with this family, in this image that found its way into our collection.

Although he was not a pilot, John Wayne did play one in a few movies that he starred in, and toured the South Pacific in World War Two.  Here is a picture for the Hendrix collection of John Wayne in New Guinea in the cockpot of a P-47

As Jimmy Stewart protrayed Charles Lindbergh, it is not surprising that we have an image of him with T.C. Ryan.

Film legend Rock Hudson in a flight suit by a Convair F-102, records indicate that he flew supersonic in the two seater.

It would seem the old Gun Slinge, Matt Dillon (played by actor James Arness) got a ride on an F-102 as well.

Bob Hope makes a few appearences in our feed.  One with an autograph and one with Hugh Hefner!

Yep, that is Tom Cruise showing up in our Bob Hoover collection...not to mention John Travolta!

While filming "Tears of the Sun," Bruce Willis (left) and fellow cast members flew on board a C-2A Greyhound.  And we have the proof!
