Aviation and space exploration are an important part of that history. Flight changed how people traveled, fought wars, communicated, conducted research, and understood the world beyond Earth.

As 2025 draws to a close, the San Diego Air & Space Museum’s Library & Archives finds itself at a crossroads of progress and perseverance. This year has been marked by major milestones in preservation, digitization, and community engagement, as well as challenges that have tested our resilience. From fragile blueprints and rare photographs to orphaned donations and digital surrogates, our work continues to be guided by one principle: safeguarding history with integrity for the generations yet to come.
