A star-studded group of astronauts and ground personnel from NASA’s legendary space programs -- Mercury, Gemini and Apollo -- shared in-depth personal experiences with guests during a rare special event.


​Save the Date: 2016 International Air & Space Induction Celebration set for Thursday, November 17

The International Air & Space Hall of Fame Induction Celebration will introduce its Distinguished Class of 2016 on Thursday, November 17, in the San Diego Air & Space Museum’s Edwin D. McKellar Pavilion of Flight.


In Support of the Plaza de Panama Project

As you might have heard, a short while ago the San Diego Air & Space Museum joined our fellow park cultural institutions, Mayor Kevin Faulconer and dozens of civic and cultural leaders in applauding the renewed efforts to remove cars from the congested center of Balboa Park.


​Legendary American Hero Steve “Spiro” Pisanos Passes Away

Col. Steve N. Pisanos, USAF, (Ret.), a World War II fighter double ace who served with the United States Army Air Corps, United States Air Force and as a volunteer member of the famed Eagle Squadrons of Great Britain’s Royal Air Force, passed away in early June. Pisanos was 96.


Museum Remembers Famed Tuskegee Airman Roscoe Brown

Captain Roscoe C. Brown, Jr. – squadron commander of the 100th Fighter Squadron of the 332nd Fighter Group – the famed Tuskegee Airmen or “Red Tails” – passed away in New York on July 2. Mr. Brown was 94.


Thirteen Deserving San Diego County Students Receive $51,000 in Scholarships

The San Diego Air & Space Museum inspires young people to tackle the challenges of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics academic disciplines, and to make a difference in tomorrow’s world through an innovative, adventurous spirit. To further this goal, the Museum recently selected 13 graduating seniors from San Diego County high schools to receive a total of $51,000 in scholarships.


Curatorial and Restoration Updates

The Museum’s Curatorial and Restoration teams have exciting projects underway at both the Balboa Park location and the Gillespie Field Annex, including a complete build-out from scratch of a Hughes Racer made famous by Howard Hughes.


​33rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament

Your participation as a player and contributor in the San Diego Air & Space Museum’s 33rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Coronado Municipal Golf Course on Wednesday, August 10 helps us provide quality educational experiences to local San Diego students through scholarships, exhibits, classes and outreach. Join us for a fun and exciting day of giving back.
