The San Diego Air & Space Museum is looking for students who want to build a vehicle no larger than a shoebox, launch it down a ramp, and see if it can jump a gap during its X FACTOR: Fly Your Ride flying car competition, the Museum announced today

The competition is fun, creative, and you don’t have to be a science fair genius to come up with a winning entry. We’ll give you feedback, create opportunities to talk to experts, and give away great prizes.

Students from 5th through 8th grade in counties throughout Southern California are encouraged to take part. Blueprints are due February 1, 2023 and competition day is Saturday April 1, 2023, beginning promptly at 8 a.m.

Blueprints can be submitted online at https://sandiegoairandspace.org/ or mailed to the SDASM Education Department, 2001 Pan American Plaza, San Diego, CA 92101, and must be postmarked by February 1, 2023.

For teachers new to the program, we offer a free mentorship workshop to explain the rules to the students and start them on their design journey. Any questions can be directed to education@sdasm.org .
