During the past 33 years, a total of $1,000,500 in scholarships has been awarded by the Museum to 331 deserving students. This year the Museum added another 12 students to its list of awardees.
The San Diego Air & Space Museum inspires young people to tackle the challenges of the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics academic disciplines, and to make a difference in tomorrow’s world through an innovative, adventurous spirit. To further this goal, the Museum recently selected 12 graduating seniors from San Diego County high schools to receive a total of $38,100 in scholarships.
These scholarships are awarded annually on behalf of three Museum administered scholarship endowment funds, the Bill Gibbs, Convair Alumni Association, and R.A. Rearwin. In addition, the Museum offers an award to the top applicant going into the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) field. To date, 331 talented San Diego County high school seniors have been awarded a total of $1,000,500 through these scholarships.
“These scholarship programs exemplify our intent to aid deserving students wanting to advance their education - our entire mission is all about inspiring our next greatest generations to excel in their lives," stated Jim Kidrick, Museum CEO and President.
The awards ceremony will be held at the San Diego Air & Space Museum on June 15 from 5:30 to 7 PM.
