The New Aerial Combat Experience

back to articles

You can now enjoy the thrill of flying solo or in teams against enemy aircraft in the new Aerial Combat Experience simulators at the San Diego Air & Space Museum.

The four flight simulators offer a level of realism in simulated flight like never before. Previous flight simulators seem archaic by comparison. For even more realistic experience, the flight simulators feature a flat panel display depicting the flight instrumentation found in the actual aircraft. The custom seats mimic the motion as if you are actually flying the plane.

The Aerial Combat Experience full motion simulators were designed by Talon Simulations.

In addition to the Aerial Combat Experience in in the Museum’s interactive simulator section, you’ll find the Max Flight Interactive Rides and the Doron Transport 6 Simulator.

The FS2000 Two-Seat Max Flight Simulator is part of a sleek squadron of indoor full-motion multi-role aircraft rides. Each is poised for the sharp banks, sky loops and screaming dives of pulse-pounding aerial combat and is completely controlled by the pilots themselves! The 360-degree pitch, roll, spin and spiral action is real while riders fly any one of Max-Flight’s combat and flight training programs on a huge 58” screen in the cockpit.

Faster, sharper and more exciting than any indoor thrill-ride on the market, the FS2000 lets you be pilot or gunner or both as you engage in interactive dog fighting, carrier landings, flight training, aerobatic maneuvers, roller coasters – and even a thrilling trip to the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle -- with the finest, most realistic graphics available. You must be at least 44 inches tall to be able to go on the Interactive Ride.

The Doron Transport 6 simulator is unlike our other simulators. It has, as the name implies, a capacity of six people, meaning the whole family can enjoy the ride together. It offers roll, pitch, and vertical translation for the best simulation possible, and our barnstorming adventure has already proven to be extremely popular. Come and try it!

Please Note: Simulators are an additional cost not covered by General Admission to the San Diego Air & Space Museum.
