Operation Gratitude and the San Diego Community Assemble 5,000 Care Packages for USS George Washington Crew at the San Diego Air & Space Museum

Operation Gratitude teamed up with more than 200 volunteers from across San Diego to assemble 5,000 Care Packages for every crew member of the USS George Washington during a two day community event at the San Diego Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park on August 19 and 20.

The Operation Gratitude Care Packages contained snacks, personal care products, handmade items, and, most importantly, personal handwritten letters from grateful citizens across the U.S. The letters, filled with heartfelt gratitude, are a core part of Operation Gratitude’s mission to express deep appreciation for those who selflessly serve our nation.

“I am truly humbled by the overwhelming support and effort that the San Diego community has put into the success of Operation Gratitude,” said Meg Barron, Executive Director of Operation Gratitude. “This city’s dedication and unity are inspiring, and it’s heartwarming to see everyone come together to show their appreciation for those who serve. San Diego’s enthusiasm and spirit play a vital role in our mission to support our military members.”
