Earlier this year, the San Diego Air & Space Museum was awarded with a $334,000 grant from the National Endowment of the Humanities (NEH) to digitize 120,000 images from the Consolidated/Convair/General Dynamics still image collection. Since the start of the project in June 2023, grant staff and volunteers have digitized 20,000 negatives from this collection.

The main priority of the NEH grant has been to emphasize the people and employees who made the operations at Convair possible. As of now, around 4,500 of the digitized images highlight employees, their families, and military personnel, all of whom took part in making Convair as successful as it was throughout the 20th century.
