Little Engineers Explore Science!

back to articles

Congratulations to our first graduating class of Little Engineers! Debuting in January, the Little Engineers preschool program ran for five month-long sessions, each focusing on a different scientific theme.

Children ages 3-5 experimented with rockets, rovers and roller coasters as they were introduced to the fundamentals of physics and engineering through hands-on play. Expanding the walls of their classroom to the museum (and beyond), the Little Engineers explored friction and acceleration in the special exhibit SPEED, identified simple machines in the basement workshop, and tested lunar landers off of the stairs of the PSA exhibit.

Classes are capped at eight students to keep the experience focused on child-centered learning experiences, although sometimes it was hard to tell who was having more fun: the preschooler, or their parents!

Little Engineers is taking a break for the summer, but keep an eye out for announcements of its highly-anticipated return to Wednesday mornings this Fall!
