Born in New York City, Mr. Spielman received a BA degree from Beloit College and an MBA from Adelphi University. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and attended Officers Candidate School. He served as an advisor to Vietnamese troops attached to the Military Assistance Command from 1969 through 1970. Leaving the Army in 1970, Mr. Spielman worked for Helmsley-Spear, Inc. for 28 years, a large national real estate firm, owning and managing commercial and residential properties. He began his long career with the maintenance department, ending up as managing director and partner. Mr. Spielman’s love for cars inspired him to begin an antique and classic car business in 1996, Only Yesterday Classic Autos.
