Part-Time Marketing Director

The San Diego Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park seeks a part-time Marketing Director to join our outstanding team. Position Summary

The Marketing Director oversees all marketing, advertising, and social media for the San Diego Air & Space Museum. Primarily responsible for implementing marketing plans for special exhibitions, programs, and events to increase Museum attendance and awareness. Will work with the Communications Director to create unified messaging for press and the public.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with a variety of constituencies including donors, volunteers, staff, visitors, government officials, and the general public
  • Ability to foster long-term relationships with key professionals
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and contribute to the creative nature of the organization
  • Must be detail oriented with exceptional follow-through
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Strong time-management and project management skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Knowledge of or interest in aviation helpful

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Facilitating and helping promote exhibits, events, programs, and financial support through advertising, written, and e-based platforms
  • Evaluating and developing our marketing strategy and marketing plan
  • Identifying potential customers
  • Coordinating marketing projects from start to finish
  • Serve as writer and editor for communications to members and visitors through social media platforms
  • Manage annual marketing budget
  • Maximize brand presence on various channels (e.g. web, TV and social media) in coordination with the Communications Director
  • Ensure brand consistency in all advertising efforts
  • Work closely with the Creative Department on advertising campaigns and other Museum promotional collateral
  • Work closely with Department Directors to help raise awareness of their programs and promote them to the public
  • Work closely with Development and the President/CEO in coordination of special fundraising events
  • Work closely with the Operations & Technology Director to set up goals and priorities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Desired Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Proven results in creating and implementing successful marketing campaigns
  • Experience in marketing Attractions with multi-faceted programs
  • Experience growing social media followings

Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Work schedule will include some evenings and weekends. The Museum is a non-smoking, drug-free workplace. Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.

Compensation
$30-$36 per hour
