International Council of Air Shows (ICAS)

back to honorees

Formed in 1967 by a coalition of air show professionals, the International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting safety, professionalism, and collaboration within the air show industry. Before its founding, air shows across the United States operated independently, often without consistent safety or performance standards. ICAS filled that gap, becoming the leading authority on best practices, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance for both civilian and military performers. Over the decades, ICAS has fostered cooperation between air show organizers, pilots, and government agencies, ensuring that this uniquely American form of aviation entertainment continues to thrive safely and responsibly. Through its advocacy, training, and community-building efforts, ICAS has elevated air shows into a professional and enduring celebration of flight.
