Born March 3, 1935, southern California native Hudson Drake was educated in the Los Angeles area earning his bachelor’s degree from UCLA and ultimately a master’s from Pepperdine. Hudson began his distinguished career in business by joining North American Aviation’s Autonetics division, where he was involved several electronic aircraft control systems programs including that of the X-15. In 1968, he won a presidential appointment as a White House Fellow serving under presidents Johnson and Nixon. He went on to serve as the Deputy Under Secretary for the U.S. Department of Commerce. A career move brought him back to California’s Teledyne Corporation. His 25-year tenure began as President of the electronics and space company, then the aeronautical company and finally as President of all the corporation’s aerospace and electronics companies. He was involved with critical space technology programs where his positive impact was clearly felt. Following Drake’s retirement, he has enjoyed a life of civic and charitable contributions in the San Diego area.
