Based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and organized into eight network regions, Air Charity Network is a charitable organization that provides free air transportation for those needing to travel to specialized health care facilities, or distant destinations because of family, community or national crisis. Air Charity Network also coordinates flights for organ transplant candidates, for those involved in clinical medical trials, chemotherapy or other repetitive treatment, as well as for victims of abuse who are seeking relocation, disabled or sick children for special camp programs, and for many other humanitarian reasons. Air Charity Network is now the largest charitable air transportation organization in the world, and the only linked entity to serve all fifty states. With more than 7,500 volunteer general aviation pilots, Air Charity Network represents over 90 percent of all charitable aviation-related, non-emergency flights in the nation. For example, in 2006, Air Charity Network arranged transportation for more than 34,000 passengers, on 22,000 flights. Air Charity Network also arranges flights of compassion for members of the military and their immediate families, and assists in natural disaster responses.
