Lindell Hendrix enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served in England with the 8th Air Force. Discharged in 1950, he became a test pilot for Republic, aircraft salesman, and then turned to freelance writing.
Linus Upson served in both the Second World War and the Korean War.

Louis Gordon was the co-pilot/ mechanic on the 1928 Transatlantic flight of the Fokker F7 "Friendship" which flew from Newfoundland to Wales in 1928. Amelia Earhart was a passenger on this flight and it is remembered as the first air crossing of the Atlantic by a female.
Louis M. Lowry graduated from Parachute Riggers School at Chanute Field at Rantoul, Illinois in 1931. He went on to work for North American Rockwell Corporation from 1943 to 1969.
