Fred Wallace Personal Papers

Fred Wallace served in the US Navy as a Naval Enlisted Pilot (NAP) and was instrumental in the development and testing of drones and UAVs. He piloted the first drone, in 1937, from a control cart on the ground. This collection documents Wallace?s life as a fleet NAP, as well as early drone and UAV development.

GD Astronautics Special Collection

The paraphernalia of this collection comes from Stan Hodges, Art Director at Convair in the mid-1950s and 1960s. He designed many of the posters that were placed in the plant, as well as the General Dynamics sign.
