Col. George Peck served with the 107th Observation Squadron and the 67th Tactical Recon Group during WWII.
The collection contains items reflecting George Dong's career with the B-24 airplane Witchcraft during World War II. It includes documents, news clippings, memorabilia, and extensive photographs which have been digitized.
Gerald D. Chadderdon was born on October 9, 1922 in Friendship, New York but grew up in Olean, NY. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force as a cadet in 1942 and did basic training at Allegheny College, Meadville, PA. He graduated the summer of 1944 from the Army Air Forces Pilot School in Craig Field, Selma, Alabama as part of the Class 44-F. It was then that he was commissioned as a second lieutenant and received his "Silver Wings." He was a First Pilot in heavy bombers during the final stages of World War II, and was honorably discharged in 1945 after 32 months service.
Gladys O’Donnell soloed after 10 hours and in 1929 at the age of 25, became the first licensed woman pilot in Long Beach, California. That same year, Gladys participated in the first Women's Air Derby with only 40 hours of solo flying time.
From the Glenn Smith Collection. Unfortunately, no biographical information is available for Glenn H. Smith. He clearly was associated in some way, or had an interest in the B-24 Liberator bomber and the International B-24 Liberator Club.
