2nd Lt. James Stephen Williams (b.1924) entered the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II, serving as a navigator in the Pacific Theater with the 3rd Photo Reconnaissance Squadron.
James Smith took these photos on board the USS Kearsarge CVA 33 in 1957-58. He served with VF-53. They document life on board the Kearsarge and a trip to the Far East.
Yellin flew over one thousand hours of missions in various aircraft and was selected to be one of the first long-range escort fighter pilots to fly to mainland Japan and defend B-29 bombers on their way to Tokyo.
James Harvey Hester was born to John and Amelia (Nichols) Hester in Rocky Ford, Colorado on July 16, 1898. The family operated a cattle ranch there and later in Riverside, CA. After school he served as the Chief Research Engineer for the Edison Company among other jobs but took up an interest in aviation as a hobby.
Jimmy Doolittle is one of the most famous aviators ever to live. This collection includes documents and news clippings documenting his life.
