Hazel Smothers was born in 1929 in San Luis Obispo. She held numerous licences and certificates for aircraft, received several honors, was a deputized pilot for San Luis Obispo Sheriff's office, and won her division of the 1969 "Powder Puff Derby."
Helen Richey was the first female pilot to be hired by commercial passenger carrier.
Helen Shropshire was a famous woman aviator who participated in many air races.
Henry Cord Meyer was one of the most influential aviation historians in recent memory. He specialized in the study of Lighter Than Air aircraft.
Herbert Schaefer was a rocket scientist who worked with NASA and the Air Force.
