The history of aviation in Mexico is over 100 years old. Both civilian and military aviation in the country have a rich past, and many famous aviators, such as Emilio Carranza and Roberto Fierro Villalobos hail from Mexico. During the Second World War, Mexico participated in the Air War, fighting on the side of the Allies, and the contributions of the 201st Squadron are of particular note. Today, the Mexican Air Force remains a viable air arm, and several prominent Mexican airlines operate internationally.
