First Lieutenant Harry H. Haw was born in 1894 in Wisconsin. Harry Haw served in the U.S. Army in the 514th Observation Squadron. He entered the U.S. Army in 1917 and became a First Lieutenant in 1930. He became a civilian transport pilot by 1930 and had logged 789 flying hours by 1934. He then moved to San Diego, California and went to College of the Pacific and received a Master’s Degree from Stanford. After college he got his first job as a general science and biology teacher at Point Loma High and later at La Jolla High. He then served a long career as an elementary school principal. He passed away in 1981.
The collection consists of pictures, military records, flight records, correspondence (military/personal), and a manuscript. File folders, archival paper, archival picture and page sleeves were used to protect fragile materials. The documents in the collection depict events in the military and flight careers of Harry H. Haw.
