Get ready for an unforgettable day of discovery, excitement, and real-time space history at the San Diego Air & Space Museum’s Artemis II Splashdown Family PJ Night Watch Party!
Timed with the anticipated return of NASA’s Artemis II mission, this immersive event invites families to witness the dramatic splashdown of the Orion capsule—expected just off the coast of San Diego—and celebrate humanity’s next step toward the Moon.
Guests will gather in the Museum’s Pavilion of Flight at least one hour prior to splashdown to watch the live broadcast of Orion’s return to Earth on a massive LED screen. Follow along as the capsule re-enters the atmosphere, deploys parachutes, and splashes down—marking a historic milestone in human space exploration.
Starting at 4:30pm, guests can explore a variety of education-led activity stations, including:
Come dressed in your favorite pajamas.
The Flight Path Grill will be open until 6:30pm offering a full menu of family-friendly food, snacks, and beverages to enjoy while watching the live stream.
Don’t miss the 8.5-foot-tall Space Launch System (SLS) rocket model, showcasing the powerful vehicle sending astronauts around the Moon as part of NASA’s Artemis program.
Youth groups of 10 or more (with chaperones) receive free admission with pre-registration.
