Pumpkin Chunkin’ and Partial Solar Eclipse Viewing Party Set For Saturday, Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the San Diego Air & Space Museum

The annual Pumpkin Chunkin’ Halloween-themed celebration and a viewing party for a rare partial Solar Eclipse is set for Saturday, Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the San Diego Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park.

The Museum is opening early at 9 a.m. for Pumpkin Chunkin’ and to prepare for a rare partical Solar Eclipse, which should start a little after 8 a.m. before peaking around 9:25 a.m.

Join us for some good old fashioned -- and kind-of messy-- fun during our annual Halloween-themed celebration in Balboa Park. You can wear your favorite costume as you construct a catapult to launch candy pumpkins. Try to land your pumpkin safely or use our 3D pens to make creepy sculptures. You can even drive our new robot ghouls!

In one of our favorite annual traditions, we will be doing our famous pumpkin drop – with parachutes, and without – from the roof of the Museum during our “scientific exploration.”
