Known formally now as the San Diego Air & Space Technology Center — Wind Tunnel, it’s in a nondescript building on Pacific Highway near the airport’s new consolidated car-rental facility. The tunnel is owned by the San Diego Air & Space Museum, which bought it in 2006 when it looked like the operation was going to be shut down, taking a piece of the city’s rich aviation history with it.
