Fred H. Morlan enlisted in the US Air Service in May, 1917. He was stationed at March Field and later served in France.
Fred Wallace served in the US Navy as a Naval Enlisted Pilot (NAP) and was instrumental in the development and testing of drones and UAVs. He piloted the first drone, in 1937, from a control cart on the ground. This collection documents Wallace?s life as a fleet NAP, as well as early drone and UAV development.
The collection contains materials collected by and related to Frederick Stark during his time as a loadmaster for U.S. Air Force. The material includes personal and biographic history from this time. The collection includes documents, correspondence, news articles and clippings, and photographs.
The paraphernalia of this collection comes from Stan Hodges, Art Director at Convair in the mid-1950s and 1960s. He designed many of the posters that were placed in the plant, as well as the General Dynamics sign.
After General Dynamics terminated its aerospace manufacturing operation in San Diego in 1995, this report was created to deal with the facilities, which were on land leased from the San Diego Unified Port District.
