Resident’s Free Day for December, held typically on a Tuesday, occurs during December Nights free entry, on the 1st and 2nd, (Fri/Sat).
On Friday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. – the exact month and date the Wright Brothers first flew at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903 – the San Diego Air & Space Museum will run an exact reproduction of the engine the Wright Brothers used for their first powered flight out in front of the Museum in Balboa Park.
The demonstration of the running engine is the Museum’s way of commemorating the first powered flight in human history on Dec. 17, 1903. The original engine was designed and built for the Wright Brothers by Charles E. Taylor.
