Richard Whitehead served in the U.S. Army Airborne during World War II. The collection primarily consists of his personal correspondence with his family members, particularly his mother and sister. Whitehead also took dozens of photographs during his time in the military and abroad.
Born in San Diego on October 19, 1924, Robert C. “Bob” Kemp was a publications editor and illustrator with General Dynamics in San Diego, as well as a noted artist, specializing in aircraft and sailing ship paintings.
The collection contains materials collected by and related to Robert Eugene Gallatin and his friendship with astronaut Gene Cernan. The collection includes documents, correspondence, news articles and clippings, and photographs.
Robert Williams served as a pilot for the U.S. Army during WWI, after which he held multiple aviation jobs and continued to serve in the Reserve in World War II as a Colonel.
Robert Pavey served in the Navy Photographic Section and did much of his work at NAS Pensacola and at the Navy’s lighter than air station at NAS Santa Ana.
