Patrick Corr is a native of Ireland and his professional life began with a six year period as a commissioned officer in the Irish Army, including six months service with the UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon. In 1982 he accepted a position as the HR director for a development company in Saudi Arabia. After several years in the Arabian Peninsula he moved to San Francisco and enrolled in a flight training program leading to a qualification as a commercial helicopter pilot. By 1987 he was the owner of a flight training and charter service, initially based in Concord, California. The company was successful in winning many contracts to train pilots for the offshore oil and gas industry and later to provide training to foreign military and police organizations at the request of the United States government. At its peak the company was operating more than seventy helicopters. In 2007 Corr sold the business and accepted an offer to join the acquiring company as Senior Vice President for Safety, Standards and Training. He has served as Chairman of the Helicopter Association International, as well as the Helicopter Foundation International. Now fully retired, Patrick divides his time between San Diego and Cabo San Lucas, as well as traveling extensively.
