Graphic & Production Associate

Position Summary
As the Graphic & Production Associate, you'll take charge of Print Production within the Museum. This involves handling/printing the Museum's daily materials for visitors, collaborating with the Design Manager to address production needs, and managing the competitive bid process with external vendors as needed. You'll ensure files meet internal and external printing specifications, monitor print quality during proofing, and contribute to graphic creation for Museum Projects. Additionally, you'll be responsible for maintaining office paper and supply inventories.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • A solid foundation in typography, layout, and design
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of the various internal production machines
  • Strong print production skills in printing, laminating, cutting, and sign-making.
  • Excellent visual, written, and verbal communication skills, along with presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organization, including the ability to prioritize tasks, communicate progress, and meet deadlines
  • ​The ability to effectively take direction and work both collaboratively and autonomously

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and design various materials for print
  • Work with a wide range of media and equipment
  • Ensure projects are completed with high quality and on schedule
  • Maintain supplies in the office
  • Create Digital Graphics to update Museum displays
  • Maintain consumable levels on the Museum floor
  • Coordinate with outside agencies and services as needed

Desired Education/Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design or equivalent experience
  • Portfolio of related works
  • Hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience using print production software, including Fiery & Duplo software, preferred
  • Experience using research tools, including internet and archival materials
  • Strong aesthetic skills with the ability to combine various colors, fonts, and layouts
  • Ability to meet deadlines while working on team projects
  • Attention to visual details
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a number of environments, which may include hot, cold, noisy, dusty, close spaces or at heights. Standing and/or walking for six or more hours per day and heavy physical activity is periodically required, including the handling of objects heavier than 50 pounds. The Museum is a non-smoking, drug-free workplace. Successful completion of a criminal background check is required prior to final offer of employment.

Compensation
$18 - $20 per hour, depending on experience, plus benefits for full-time employment.
