Tyson S. McDowell named Vice Chairman of Board of Directors at San Diego Air & Space Museum

McDowell joins three returning officers on the Board of Directors, including; Chairman Mark Larson, Treasurer Jeff Ackley, and Secretary James Petranoff.

McDowell resides in San Diego and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) Coastal San Diego chapter.

San Diego, CA – Sept. 23, 2017 – The San Diego Air & Space Museum continues to gain traction in its mission to bring innovation to life for the next generation of leaders and STEM students alike. The Museum believes connecting high-potential up-and-comers to aerospace activities, stories, and living legends creates unique opportunities to accelerate education and inspire greatness.

In pursuit of this mission, the Museum has appointed 35-year-old software entrepreneur and aviator Tyson S. McDowell as Vice Chairman of its Board of Directors. McDowell joins three returning officers on the Board of Directors, including; Chairman Mark Larson, Treasurer Jeff Ackley, and Secretary James Petranoff.

McDowell is a multi-time technology entrepreneur and investor. He built and sold a healthcare finance software company which became Avadyne Health, and operates an incubator for web and mobile technologies that improve the human condition.

While business is McDowell’s main focus, aviation remains a core passion. He is a certified private pilot with instrument, multi-engine, helicopter, and various type ratings. Over 13 years he and a partner built and now fly a Velocity XL RG kit airplane, and operated and maintained an ex-Soviet L-39C Albatross Jet. He has logged more than 2,000 flight hours and is also an avid aerobatic pilot.

McDowell resides in San Diego and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) Coastal San Diego chapter.
