Blue Angels make a rare public appearance at the San Diego Air & Space Museum

More than 150 local children meet the Blue Angels face to face

The Blue Angels made a rare public appearance at the San Diego Air & Space Museum on Wednesday, Sept. 30, thrilling more than 150 local children and their families who attended the free event.

The Blue Angels are in San Diego as the headline act for the three-day 2015 Miramar Air Show: A Salute to Veterans and Their Families from Oct. 2-4. They met with children, took photographs, and signed autographs during their appearance at the Museum.

The purpose of the event was to encourage kids to pursue careers in aviation, engineering, science, technology and math.

The families who attended the event came from a variety of local groups, including San Diego Air & Space members, Balboa Park Explorer Pass holders, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, students from the Urban Discovery Academy, among others.
