Offering Inspirational Education Opportunities

back to articles

This summer, the Education department engaged with over 280 students with our virtual programming, including the popular Think Tank engineering club, Girls in Engineering camp, and a collaboration with the San Diego Public Library to offer free gallery exploration and activities for patrons.

Virtual Field Trip Funding Available Now!

The Education Department is excited to partner with ArtsBusXpress to provide fully funded virtual field trips to schools and teachers in San Diego County! Teachers will be asked to submit a short application to ArtsBusXpress explaining the value added for their students, and pending approval, could qualify to receive a FREE remote learning experience for their class. We’re excited to work with ArtsBusXpress to “enrich our students one field trip at a time, with or without the bus!”

For the coming school year, the Museum is proud to offer three new Remote Learning Experiences for schools, organizations, or after-school clubs: Gravity Busters, Lunar Landers, and Engineering Everywhere. In each program, students will draw inspiration from the history of aviation and human space exploration as they build and test prototypes, using materials from around their homes, to solve real world problems.

And don't forget to check out our after-school remote learning experience, Air & Space at Your Place! Each session lasts four weeks, is designed for students grades 2-5, and meets virtually on Zoom once a week on Wednesday from 3-4 PM PDT.

Program materials (minus tape and scissors) are included in the program price, and can be picked up from the Museum, or shipped to your home for an additional fee.

As you register, you will see three price tiers: Family in Need ($20), Standard ($75), and Program Sponsor ($100). Especially in these trying times, we believe in providing everyone with quality STEM programming and use a "pay what you can" model to support our community.
