Alan Johnson

Alan Johnson entered the computer business in 1957, working for Cal-Tech, Honeywell, Burroughs and Control Data Corporation until 1967. Always a car enthusiast, he was a drag racer, and then discovered Porsches, which led to a successful career racing sports cars, winning over 120 races, including four SCCA National Championships. He also won in the TransAm class and co-drove winning Porsches in IMSA, Sebring 12 Hour and Daytona 24 Hour races. Mr. Johnson’s involvement in racing and driver training led to co-authoring Driving in Competition, published in 1971. Racing success led him to the automobile business in 1967, first with Don Burns VW in Garden Grove, then Bozzani Porsche Audi in Monrovia, Johnson Bozzani Porsche Audi in Phoenix and then Alan Johnson Porsche Audi in San Diego.  He was a partner in several other automobile dealerships and auto businesses until 1991, and was a founding director of Rancho Santa Fe National Bank in 1982. In 1992, Mr. Johnson joined Management Action Programs as an executive business consultant. He continues to represent MAP, working with many different types of organizations. He has been active in the Ecke YMCA in Encinitas since 1983, serving as chairman from 1986 to 1989.  Mr. Johnson also served on the San Diego Automotive Museum Board for two years.
