San Diego, CA - January 28, 2013 - A brand new, one-of-a-kind Ripley’s Believe It or Not! exhibition opens February 1st at the San Diego Air & Space Museum. This is the first time a Ripley’s exhibition has been to San Diego since the California Pacific International Exposition in 1935, the same year the Museum’s Ford Building was built.

The Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum, in collaboration with the San Diego Air & Space Museum, created this special exhibition specifically for San Diego. This exhibition is the only one of its kind in the world.

For over 40 years, Robert Ripley - a real-life Indiana Jones - traveled the world collecting the unbelievable and the inexplicable. His vast collections, praised as "amazing," "ludicrously strange," and "extremely amusing" are on display at the Museum beginning February 1st, 2013 for visitors to see.

Some of the many interactive galleries include:

  • Aviation & Space Oddities
  • Unusual Modes of Transportation
  • Strange People and Odd Animals
  • Weird, Wacky, and Unusual Art
  • The Robert Ripley Story
  • Tribal Artifacts collected from around the globe (including an authentic shrunken head)
  • Vampires & Graveyards (view an original vampire killing kit)

Visitors can see the incredible “Believe It or Not!’s” they’ve read about in the Ripley books and cartoons and watched on television. The Ripley’s Believe It or Not! special exhibition is a self-guided, self-paced interactive tour that is fun for the whole family and allows guests to fully enjoy San Diego’s most bizarre attraction.

"We are very excited about bringing the Ripley's brand back to San Diego; their 1935 'Odditorium' created lasting memories for thousands of people," said Museum President & CEO Jim Kidrick. "It's time for old and new generations alike to have fun again along with Robert Ripley, and his global appreciation of the wonders existing in our world. There is truly something in the exhibit for everyone!"

Admission to Ripley’s Believe It or Not! is only $5 (with general admission) and includes entrance to the general Museum galleries.
