A retired naval officer, John Faron joined the Museum after a distinguished aviation career, spanning 26 years, flying 24 different aircraft types, from the SNJ to the A-4, with approximately 1,000 carrier landings, 400 of those at night. John was a student at Ohio State University in 1953 when he left to enter the Navy’s aviation cadet program at Pensacola, Florida. His career included four tours to Vietnam, as well as a variety of flight instructor and project pilot assignments. He is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School at Monterey, as well as the Armed Forces Staff College, and holds a master’s degree from California State University, Northridge. Mr. Faron is also our docent training coordinator, joining the docent team in 2001.
