Dr. Mort Jorgensen

A long time board member and docent, Dr. Mort Jorgensen grew up in San Diego. He received an undergraduate degree in chemistry at San Diego State College and his MD degree at the UCLA School of Medicine. He received his surgical training at Bethesda Navy Hospital during Navy service. His Navy career included service in Vietnam as well as surgical support on recovery carriers for the Apollo Space Program. Retiring from the Navy as a captain, he entered into private practice in general and peripheral vascular surgery in San Diego. He has been on the board and is past president of several community groups, including San Diego Rotary Club, Boys Clubs of San Diego and San Diego Society of General Surgery. He has been associated with the Museum for over 16 years both as a docent and board secretary, chairing the Audit and Scholarship Committees.
