The Museum recently premiered a new permanent exhibit honoring astronaut Wally Schirra. It chronicles his life from military fighter pilot to Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo astronaut. As events played out, Schirra was the only National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) astronaut to fly missions in all three programs. In addition, he played a large part in promoting NASA and the space program in many other ways, including earning an Emmy Award for his TV broadcast from space. The exhibit can be found in the Modern Gallery adjacent to the Atlas exhibit.
