Museum's 50th Anniversary - November 01, 2013

It seems like only yesterday, but it’s been 50 years since the San Diego Aerospace Museum opened its doors for the first time. Since then, we’ve moved twice, added an annex at Gillespie Field, acquired the original Consolidated Aircraft Wind Tunnel and increased our aircraft collection from six to more than 120.

Marine Raider Sculpture Unveiling - September 30, 2014

The Museum presents a limited opportunity September 30th, 9am-10am to see the premiere unveiling of life-like bronze statue, "Soul of the Forward and Faithful," by nationally recognized sculptor Mardie Rees, before it travels to its home at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, VA.

Consolidated Aircraft Online Exhibit Opening - October 19, 2010

October 20, 2010 marks the 75th anniversary of Consolidated Aircraft Corporation (later known as Convair) opening its doors in San Diego after relocating from New York. The company was responsible for building some of the most important aircraft in aviation history, including the PBY Catalina, B-24 Liberator, F-102 Delta Dagger, and F-106 Delta Dart, as well as the reliable Atlas launch vehicle, which was vital in sending America into space. To commemorate this important date, the Museum will unveil an online exhibition highlighting the history of Consolidated and its founder, Reuben H. Fleet.
