Museum's 50th Anniversary - November 01, 2013

It seems like only yesterday, but it’s been 50 years since the San Diego Aerospace Museum opened its doors for the first time. Since then, we’ve moved twice, added an annex at Gillespie Field, acquired the original Consolidated Aircraft Wind Tunnel and increased our aircraft collection from six to more than 120.

Centennial of Naval Aviation Exhibit Opening - February 28, 2011

In honor of the Centennial of Naval Aviation, the Museum will present a pictorial history of significant aircraft and events from the past 100 years of Navy flight. The exhibit will open in early March.

Consolidated Aircraft Online Exhibit Opening - October 19, 2010

October 20, 2010 marks the 75th anniversary of Consolidated Aircraft Corporation (later known as Convair) opening its doors in San Diego after relocating from New York. The company was responsible for building some of the most important aircraft in aviation history, including the PBY Catalina, B-24 Liberator, F-102 Delta Dagger, and F-106 Delta Dart, as well as the reliable Atlas launch vehicle, which was vital in sending America into space. To commemorate this important date, the Museum will unveil an online exhibition highlighting the history of Consolidated and its founder, Reuben H. Fleet.

Fly Your Ride! Competition - April 12, 2014

Our Fly Your Ride! Competition finals are being held at the San Diego Air & Space Museum from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 12! Middle school and high school teams from all over San Diego County have been working tirelessly to design and build flying cars. Will they be able to jump over an ever increasing gap after going down a ramp…and will they survive? Find out with us!

Pacific Southwest Airlines Book Release Date - October 27, 2010

On Thursday, October 28th, 2010, the Library & Archives will release its newest publication "Pacific Southwest Airlines." The book features unique photos, many of them never seen before, highlighting the history of this historic airline. With its low fares and friendly service, Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) was one of the most successful regional airlines in American history. The book will be available for purchase online or in the Museum.

San Diego County Residents Free Tuesday

Resident Free Tuesday--March - March 25, 2014

The San Diego Air & Space Museum is free the 4th Tuesday of every month to San Diego County Residents, San Diego County College Students, Active Duty Military and their dependents. You must show a valid ID to receive free admission.

Special exhibitions require an additional charge on Resident Free Tuesdays. Also, the Kid's Aviation Action Hangar is closed and the 3D/4D Zable Theater will be an additional charge on Resident Free Tuesdays.
